Sai - "Out of Context" EP

My name is Isaiah Donley; artist name "Sai." pronounced “Say”, I am 26 years old and I am a singer/songwriter living in Los Angeles with Chicago roots. My family is full of musicians, starting with my grandmother who owned a church in Chicago in the early 90’s. Her six children performed the music and singing for services. My father also played in a funk band in the late 70’s where he played the rhythm guitar and sang background vocals. Music has always been a huge part of my life, but it wasn't until I got my first acoustic guitar at 16 and started writing and singing songs that I realized music was one of my passions. Artists who were influential to me during this time were The Beatles, Jack Johnson, Lord Huron, Iron and Wine, Bahamas, Toro Y Moi, Mumford & Sons, Young the Giant, etc. I love these artists because of their ability to intertwine the mundaneness of life so beautifully with life's ups and downs. With that being said, I’ve also always had a very strong connection to R&B, Soul music, Hip Hop, and Pop. I have gained inspiration from artists like Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Drake, Khalid, 6Lack, Sam Cooke, The Temptations, and so many others. I was drawn to these particular genres because of the care-free attitude, the freedom and creativity found in the production, and the musical arrangement. My musical journey has been one of existing on opposite ends of the spectrum only to be inevitably pulled to the middle. These experiences provided me the inspiration needed to create my debut EP entitled “Out of Context”

“Out of Context” is encompassed of 5 genre bending tracks, citing noticeable influences from R&B, Hip-Hop and Pop while possessing traditional singer-songwriter undertones.

Proud of Yourself” is an uplifting, contemporary R&B song about someone choosing to be resilient even when facing hard times. The record resembles an anthem infused of R&B and Pop over a playful, yet heavy, Hip-Hop beat
